Alex Tsepko, CEO of Skylum Facebook Post on issues with Luminar 2018 for Windows

This is a bit long. But I could not make it shorter:)

These 24 hours have been very… refreshing and… busy.
For everyone at Skylum.

Ivan Kutanin, who leads the development team, had his 2nd kid born today, but spent most of the time in the office. That did not surprise anyone.

The word busy (or better say “swamped”) has become without exaggeration the best description of almost every day we spent in the office in 2017.

This is especially TRUE for the Windows team: 10 great developers, project managers, QA specialists, who worked 6 days a week for over a year (and are still working in the same schedule).

We have a vision to bring you the best photo editing software for Mac & PC, but apparently we have missed something.

The PC version of Luminar 2018 doesn’t (yet) work the way it should work to be accepted as the real Adobe alternative.
We have made a huge progress this year. Luminar for PC was built from scratch. We have tested it on all kinds of computers, but after these 24 hours of your feedback it is obvious: a lot of things about Luminar on PC should get improved.

And they will!

Some things will be fixed this week, some within weeks, and for some it may take months. But this year you will get a really robust photo software that will beat your expectations.

I say this with confidence because this is the reason we have started building Luminar for Mac & PC in the first place.

We are hiring more people to join the PC Team as you are reading this. More people will join the Mac development team as well. More people will join the R&D team, so we deliver you more AI powered editing tools.

We have started working closer with camera manufacturers and other partners to make sure you’ll get a real Adobe alternative for Mac & Windows computers. And get the performance you deserve.

You have paid around $50-$60 to own Luminar 2018. This is 2X less than most of us pay Adobe to rent the Creative Cloud. But this is still a very good amount of money, and we understand this.

The Luminar 2018 updates will come for free. We will also support you with high-quality free photography education, creative content and more to make you feel more comfortable. And to help you make even more incredible images with Skylum software.

I see a lot of new names here. I am really honored that you have decided to become part of Skylum Family. And I am sorry we haven’t yet delivered what you have expected.
But I ask you to stay with us, so we can prove that we are very serious about everything we say and do.

You’ll enjoy this year with Skylum, and hopefully many more years to come. We know you’re looking for a great photo software, and we will not let you down.

We want this to be a family of likeminded people who have the best tools to make the best images. Let’s make this happen together.

God bless you!

Alex Tsepko, CEO of Skylum.
